The Oregon Constitution Challenge
†In honor of Oregonís 157th birthday, Oregonís Secretary of State is inviting Oregon students to participate in a statewide event to help with the preservation of our state Constitution.† The Constitution is in need of repair as it has been through a lot in its 157-year lifespan. It is currently kept at the State Archives in an environmentally controlled vault and, except on rare occasions, away from public viewing because of preservation concerns.
† † † † † † † †The Oregon Constitution Challenge gives Oregon students an opportunity to help make our stateís founding document available for more Oregonians to see, including students who visit the Capitol on field trips. †The Oregon Secretary of State is inviting Oregonís more than 600,000 students to contribute 10 cents each to help fund the $60,000 project that will complete the necessary preservation work on the historic document and afford the purchase a secure, climate-controlled display case.
Students are encouraged to bring a dime to school before May 27th. If students wish to contribute more, they are welcome to do so. If Hollydale is able to raise $250.00 we will have our name engraved on a plaque that will be displayed with the original Constitution. How exciting!
